DAKOTA PHEASANT HUNTING IN FIELD NUMBERS
Year after year, approximately 80,000 resident and
70,000+ non-resident pheasant hunters come to experience
the thrill of a pheasant hunt. These numbers are
extremely high, and most of the times each of these
hunters leave for their home states with a new found
hunting experience, and many stories to tell.
Weather or not you decide to use a guide service, hunt
on public hunting lands, or maybe just try your luck
with knocking on farmers doors, you are certain to meet
many wonderful people and have an experience not found
in most large cities through-out the US and Canada.
Many pheasant hunting enthusiasts will decide to try
their luck on SD public shooting grounds. These areas
are either federal or state owned, and can produce good
pheasant hunting opportunities through-out the South
Dakota pheasant hunting season. These properties are
best hunted with hunting dogs, and more than a couple of
hunters in a group. This land is highly sought after,
and large crowds can pose a problem at times. However,
the state manages and owns thousands of these acres, so
will a little pre-scouting and patience, you should have
good luck finding an area all to your self.
